Job Summary

 

As the Accounting Manager at WHC, you will play a pivotal role in strengthening our financial management and supporting our aggressive growth objectives. Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, you will oversee our accounting operations, enhance financial systems and processes, and supervise the bookkeeping staff. This position is crucial for maintaining financial stability and providing meaningful insights that drive business success.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Manage and oversee all aspects of the daily and full cycle accounting operations, including transaction management, financial reporting & analysis, and asset & cash flow management.
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of financial and management reporting, including month/year-end close and revenue recognition.
  • Administer and comply with local, provincial, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Improve systems and procedures, as well as initiate corrective actions to automate and streamline corporate accounting.
  • Guide financial decisions and safeguard assets by developing, documenting, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls, policies, and procedures.
  • Mentor and supervise the bookkeeping staff to ensure that all financial deadlines are met in a timely and accurate manner.

 

Who You Are 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
  • 5+ years of accounting/financial management experience with proven experience in the same or similar role.
  • Experience with SaaS or similar subscription-type companies, a plus.
  • Strong understanding of Canadian GAAP (i.e., ASPE) and applicable financial regulations.
  • Proficiency with computer and data manipulation skills on Microsoft Excel and accounting software such as QuickBooks.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with a knack for managing and mentoring accounting staff.
  • Excellent communication skills (French and English) and the ability to report complex information clearly and accurately.
